About:

The Colorado Read Act was passed in 2012 and amended in 2019. Districts are required to assess students in the foundational areas of at the Beginning of year (BOY), Middle of Year (MOY), and the End of Year (EOY).

The READ Act requires teachers to assess the literacy development of K-3 students in the areas of phonemic awareness; phonics; vocabulary development; and reading fluency, which includes mastery of oral skills (Oral Reading Fluency) and reading comprehension.
